Kids of Malawi – USA (KOM) envisions a Malawi where all sick children receive high-quality healthcare. To achieve this goal, the KOM Board of Directors most of whom are physicians or are health professionals have worked at KCH. We raise funds and give financial grants directly to those that provide healthcare services on the ground.

Currently, Kids of Malawi is focusing its efforts on the children’s unit of Kamuzu Central Hospital (KCH), in Lilongwe, Malawi. This hospital serves over 3,000,000 children in the region around the capital, treating patients with a variety of conditions including premature infants, children with traumatic injuries, children with cancer, children with infectious diseases that are in advanced stages, and many other conditions. Additionally, every year during the rainy season, children critically ill with malaria will be guaranteed to flood the hospital. During this time, there are likely 3 or 4 children occupying each hospital bed in the children’s ward at Kamuzu Central Hospital. They are surrounded by loving family members, but typically only a handful of doctors and nurses are responsible for hundreds of patients.
