The KOM Difference

Malawi has over 3 million children under 5 years but at the current rate one in 20 of them will die before their 5th birthday.  While this is displaying a huge improvement over several decades, the devastating impacts of a child deaths on families and the community remain significant. You are able to help curb this trend of infant and child mortality.

KOM’s mission is to improve the health of children in Malawi by focusing on frontline health care services and be responsive to the needs of health care workers on the ground. The frontline health care workers are best situated to identify barriers and provide solutions to improve care. Working with local staff, we seek to improve staffing by financing the recruitment of both medical and admin support personnel, training of staff to provide better patient care, and improving access to care for patients. In addition, we will support efforts to improve supplies, equipment, and infrastructure at KCH as well as the surrounding area. We have developed long term, sustainable relationships in order to foster lasting changes to healthcare delivery in Malawi.  We already have a history as a group of helping supply life-saving education, funding personnel, and purchasing equipment.  This effort augments the incredible work and care that is provided by the frontline Malawian team.  We will continue in our effort until we are no longer needed.
